Artificial intelligence has many talents. Objectivity in decision-making is not one of them. Machine brains have tastes, dislikes, likes, and prejudices—the very ones they know from the datasets they’re fed. An example: Because there have been few women in technical professions so far, an AI easily thinks that women simply don’t understand anything about technology and sorts them out as applicants.
