Energy crisis, inflation, war in Ukraine – for many people in Germany, the current situation is becoming a stress test. The Federal President invokes cohesion in society.

In view of the challenges posed by the Russian war against Ukraine, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier wants to address the Germans this Friday. At an event with the German National Foundation in Berlin (11:00 a.m.), he intends to make a speech to evoke the cohesion of German society – despite the burden of high energy prices, inflation, political polarization and protests.

The speech at his official residence at Bellevue Palace is themed “Strengthening everything that unites us”. The ARD transmits them in a special broadcast.

The German National Foundation was founded in 1993 against the background of reunification. She states the purpose of the foundation: to promote Germany’s growing together, to strengthen the idea of the German nation as part of a united Europe and to contribute to a national identity in a peaceful, cosmopolitan Germany.
