“Give the hemp free”: Under this motto, around 200 people demonstrated in Berlin for the legalization of cannabis.

Cannabis consumers demonstrated in Berlin on Saturday for the speedy legalization of marijuana.

Under the motto “No more waiting: Grass in the garden!” they demanded that the federal government implement the legalization agreed in the coalition agreement more quickly. The police estimated the number of participants at up to 200, as a spokeswoman said. “Give the hemp free” or “Hemp instead of oil!” said on some signs. According to the coalition agreement, the federal government consisting of SPD, Greens and FDP wants to allow cannabis to be sold to adults in certain quantities and in special shops.

In a call for the “Global Marijuana March” it is criticized that there is neither a timetable nor a draft law. The legalization of self-cultivation is also demanded there. Just two weeks ago, more than 1,000 people demonstrated against the ban and for the legal release of cannabis.

As part of the “Global Marijuana March”, advocates of legalization were also called to protest in other cities in Germany. There will be more events in the coming weeks.
