Social – Shattered nursing homes should receive help – Bavaria

The corona pandemic has severely affected Bavaria’s nursing homes – also in financial terms. Not least because the number of residents in many facilities is no longer as it was before. On Monday, Health and Care Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) promised such homes financial aid. From now on, facilities that have had reduced income and thus losses as a result of the pandemic can apply for support to the Bavarian State Office for Care. Up to now, such compensation payments were only possible for day care facilities. According to Holetschek, the Free State is once again proving how much it cares about maintaining the nursing infrastructure. The prerequisite for the compensation of 80 percent of the shortfall in income for nursing homes is proof that they have been affected at least twice by Covid 19 outbreaks or that they have been particularly hard hit – in other words, that at least 15 percent of the residents contract the pathogen at the same time Sars-CoV-2.
