According to the experts, many posts on Musk’s platform violate the rules. Among other things, violence against Jews, Palestinians and Muslims is said to have been called for.

The of Hate speech researchers who sued Elon Musk’s online platform X are following up with new criticism of the service. At the end of October, the experts reported to X (formerly Twitter) 200 posts about the Hamas attack on Israel and the Gaza war, which, according to the researchers, clearly violated the rules. A week later, 196 of them were still online, reported the CCDH organization.

The posts called for violence against Jews, Palestinians and Muslims, among other things, according to a CCDH (Center for Countering Digital Hate) blog entry. Anti-Semitic conspiracy theories were also spread and the Nazi mass murder of Jews was denied or trivialized.

There was initially no reaction from X to the organization’s criticism. A few hours earlier, however, the service published a blog post about its handling of content that violates the platform’s rules. It said, among other things, that action had been taken against more than 320,000 posts, including hate speech. More than 3,000 accounts have been removed. The teams intervened in over 25,000 posts because of manipulated content.

Online platforms must take action against hate speech and hate speech

In recent weeks, X had received an official request from the EU Commission regarding compliance with the new EU digital law DSA. Online platforms are required by the Digital Services Act (DSA) to take strict action against illegal content such as hate speech and hate speech online.

Musk’s platform sued the online researchers who uncover hate speech and misinformation online in the summer. In the lawsuit, X accuses CCDH of unlawfully accessing the service’s data for reports on how to deal with hate speech. The company suffered damage because advertising customers dropped out.
