Snow alert, ways to better protect against incest and hope in Mariupol

Did you miss the news this early morning? We’ve put together a recap to help you see things more clearly.

We will have to forget the sunny weather last weekend, winter temperatures are indeed back. Météo-France has even placed the departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais on orange vigilance for snow and ice, in its 6 a.m. bulletin. Until Friday, a snow depth of 3 to 5 cm is expected, even locally 5 to 10 cm. Orange vigilance could also be extended during the day towards the Somme.

For the Independent Commission on Incest and Sexual Violence against Children (Ciivise), France must take measures to build a “culture of protection”. To achieve this objective, this commission, whose work began a year ago will continue until 2023, publishes its “intermediate conclusions” this Thursday, mid-term, with twenty recommendations on four axes: the identification of child victims, the judicial treatment of sexual violence, reparation in particular through care and prevention. “The emergency” is to come to the aid of the 160,000 child victims each year of sexual violence.

Will civilians get respite in Mariupol? The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday evening a “regime of silence”, i.e. a local ceasefire, from 10 a.m. this Thursday (9 a.m. Paris time) in the besieged Ukrainian port in order to carry out evacuations. This measure should make it possible to open a humanitarian corridor to the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye with a stopover via the port of Berdiansk, under Russian control. The Russians, on the other hand, demand that kyiv guarantee the “unconditional respect” of this local ceasefire via a written notification before 6 a.m.
