Snooker World Championship: Ronnie O’Sullivan rolls over Judd Trump in second final session – six frames to the title

Ronnie O’Sullivan’s superiority was already evident in the first session at. Judd Trump had taken a 1-0 lead, but then O’Sullivan won five frames in a row and played two centuries.

The fourth frame played a major role. O’Sullivan needed a snooker, but Trump missed the last red on the corner pocket. “The Rocket” took the foul points and then won the frame with a spectacularly holed re-spotted black. Trump at least kept the damage under control at the end of the session when he reduced to 3: 5.

In the evening Trump won the first frame again, but after that it got bitter for him. He made too many mistakes, and O’Sullivan exploited them mercilessly. The six-time champion acknowledged two missed black shots from Trump with clearances of 118 and 97 points.

Again he won five frames in a row. In this phase, Trump scored only 57 points in total.

Trump then shortened to 5:10 with an 80, but that was not the turnaround. With a 60, O’Sullivan extended his lead again. In the 17th frame, Trump then had to try to punch Braun long. That went wrong and “The Rocket” cleared the table with 88 points.

Ronnie O’Sullivan can now even claim victory on Monday in the third session (from 2:00 p.m. live on free TV at Eurosport 1 and at Eurosport on Joyn!) under one roof. His seventh title would draw him level with Crucible record champion Stephen Hendry.
However, the first day of the final was overshadowed by one Controversy between O’Sullivan and referee Olivier Marteel. The Belgian referee cautioned O’Sullivan in the first session, apparently for an inappropriate gesture; O’Sullivan denied this.
