Smuggling under life-threatening conditions – Bavaria

The police from Miesbach were originally called to a traffic accident; a car had slipped into the ditch near Schliersee. But shortly before the scene of the accident on Wednesday evening, three people from Turkey met them, then another two – all without the necessary entry documents.

According to a federal police report on Thursday, they met the suspected driver, a 24-year-old from Azerbaijan, at the blue minivan with the Polish license plate. He is said to have illegally smuggled the five Turks into the country – according to their own statements, together with at least five other people and under life-threatening conditions. Not only were the rear windows of the car sprayed opaque with black paint, the rear seats were also missing.

The police found no trace of the other smugglers who are said to have gotten into the van with the Turks at the Serbian-Hungarian border. According to the police, the five Turks who were trafficked were uninjured in the accident, as was the driver who was registered in Poland. He is now in custody.
