Steve Harwell is dying at the age of 56. Will alcohol abuse be his undoing?

The musician rose to prominence with his rock band Smash Mouth in the early 2000s. Hits like “Walkin’ On The Sun” and “All Star” brought him worldwide fame.

Then the band-off: in 2021 Harwell was apparently drunk at a gig, collapsed and went to a clinic. He left the band and retired.

That says he is dying now US portal “TMZ”. The 56-year-old is said to have had problems with alcohol addiction for years, which is why his liver failed. Most recently, he was treated in a hospital. In the meantime he is at home, where his loved ones have already said goodbye to him in the past three days.

His manager even reveals to the medium that the once-celebrated superstar probably only has a week to live!

Frontman yelled at audience

The tragic news comes around two years after an incident in which Harwell appeared disoriented during a live performance, slurring and threatening the audience. He later announced his resignation.

At the time, insiders told TMZ that the frontman was struggling with heart disease, heart failure and a brain disorder. His drug abuse contributed to his poor health.
