If you value good cell phone photos and have a smaller budget, you still don’t have to make big compromises with the smartphone camera. A significantly cheaper alternative to the iPhone 14 Pro or the Google Pixel 7 Pro is the Pixel 6a, which also comes from Google. It has a 6.1-inch OLED display and a battery life of almost twelve hours. For photos, there is a dual camera with twelve megapixels, an ultra-wide-angle lens and an eight-megapixel front camera for selfies. The smartphone takes beautiful photos, especially in daylight. Only the image sharpness when zooming has to be reduced, since the Pixel 6a does not have a telephoto lens. But there is software that recognizes unwanted people in photo sections and automatically removes them before you press the shutter button.

How do you recognize a good smartphone camera?
It is no longer just storage capacity or battery life that play a decisive role when choosing a new smartphone, but also the performance of the built-in camera. If you want to take just as sharp photos with your phone as with a digital camera, you should pay attention to a few details before buying the camera. Criteria for recognizing a good cell phone camera include:
- Megapixels: should be at least between eight and twelve, a higher number enables more detailed and color-accurate recordings
- Lenses: Telephoto and wide-angle lenses for long-distance shots
- Optical Image Stabilization for less blurred photos
- Aperture: the smaller the number, the more light hits the image sensor and low-light shots will be better
