Smart Dog Collar: Dog collar with geo, heart and pet tracking is here

Where is Bello – and above all: How is the dog and have we petted him enough? In the future, dog owners should be able to answer these questions with a high-tech collar called Smart Dog Collar on their smartphone via an app (iOS and Android).

The wearable was made by the French manufacturer Invoxia First presented at CES 2022, it is now available after postponed dates.

A special feature is that the Smart Dog Collar can measure the dog’s heart rate and breathing. According to the manufacturer, this only works at rest, using a miniaturized radar sensor.

The LED sensor technology used in sports watches for humans cannot be used on animals because of the fur barrier.

According to Invoxia, the heart rate data is displayed in the form of a Poincaré diagram, among other things, which makes it easier for the veterinarian to take the anamnesis.

The Smart Dog Collar should also be able to collect and display data on the fur nose’s running and walking time, the length of rest as well as barking, petting and playing per day.

A GPS tracker is also installed so that dog owners can see the position of their stray pet on a map – devices from other manufacturers have been available specifically for this for a long time.

Smart Dog Collar: Sizes and Cost

The battery should last up to two weeks. The manufacturer specifies a range of -10 to +40 degrees Celsius as the operating temperature. The wearable is dustproof and waterproof to IP67, which according to Invoxia “up to 1 meter depth in fresh water on brief immersion” means.

The Smart Dog Collar is available for dogs in three sizes: from S (e.g. French bulldog) to M (Australian Shepherd) to L (Doberman). Later versions in extra small (Chihuahua) and extra large (Rottweiler) will follow.

The price of the collar is around 250 euros. There is also a subscription for mobile data transmission, which costs at least around 130 euros for one year; a separate SIM card is not necessary.
