Small section in CM2… On this small island, a new school opens for 10 children

They are called “school managers”. These teachers have the particularity of teaching classes at all levels, from the small section to CM2. This is the case on the small island of Hoëdic, located off the coast of Morbihan and Loire-Atlantique, where a new school has just been inaugurated. According to West France, this investment had been expected for four years, the old school showing obvious signs of dilapidation. After a waltz of teachers endured for a few years, the island saw the schoolmaster make his sixth return.

The new public school will welcome ten students this year, who have the particularity of being all children of the island’s municipal employees. At the last census, Hoëdic had 94 year-round residents, according to the mayor. During a previous interview, the latter declared: “if there is no more school, there is no more life on the island”.

In 2018, the diocese announced the closure of its private school due to a drop in enrollment. In France, the minimum threshold for opening a school is two students.
