Skytrax Ranking 2022: These are the ten best airports in the world

The second year of Corona and the associated reduction in flight operations has also had a significant impact on the current airport ranking, with the exception of the airports that were also on the podium last year: Doha Airport is number one in the capital of Qatar, followed by airports mainly in East Asia, which always end up among the top places.

The London-based company Skytrax, which specializes in aviation and consumer issues, has been conducting the surveys regularly since 1999 and is considered independent. The survey took place from September 2021 to May 2022 – during a period when air traffic was starting up again worldwide.

There were 500 airports to choose from worldwide. Air passengers from more than 100 nations took part in the online survey. The IP addresses were compared so that certain groups of people did not vote multiple times.

After all, three airports in Europe made it into the top ten, which we present in the photo series. What is also striking: No airport in North America appears in the top 20 ranking.

The almost 50 voting criteria included categories such as check-in, public transport connections, language skills and the friendliness of the staff, hygiene standards, price levels in the cafés and restaurants and the efficiency of baggage claim.

The award ceremony took place on June 16 as part of the Passanger Terminal Expo trade fair in Paris.
