Because only the UV radiation from the sun increases the risk of melanoma, white skin cancer and the like. But because the consequences only become apparent years later, many people underestimate the danger.
Every ray of sunshine contributes to skin cancer, because the sun’s UV rays can cause serious damage to our genetic makeup. While most of these are repaired, others develop into mutations that can degenerate cells. And with every minute we spend too much in the sun, more of it accumulates. But we don’t notice anything until it’s too late and the diagnosis is skin cancer. But how does skin cancer develop? And what influences the risk?
