After individual success: Wellinger is aiming for the Kulm team podium

With silver, ski jumper Andreas Wellinger won his first individual medal at a ski flying World Championships. He would like to be back on the podium in the team at the end.
After the silver medal from Andreas Wellinger, the Bavarian also wants to be on the podium with the team at the Ski Flying World Championships in Kulm.
“Attacking from cover worked today, we’ll try that again tomorrow,” said Wellinger. He improved from fourth place to second place in the individual competition in Bad Mitterndorf, Austria, on Saturday.
“I think anything is possible. It will definitely be an exciting competition. We won’t be the top favorites,” added the 28-year-old. The favorites in the team competition (2 p.m./ZDF) are hosts Austria with world champion Stefan Kraft, defending champions Slovenia and Norway. But Karl Geiger, with whom Wellinger won silver as a team at the Ski Flying World Championships two years ago, was also confident: “I want to help the team. With the right jumps I can do that too,” said the 30-year-old from Oberstdorf.
“Podium is definitely possible,” said Stephan Leyhe. After several postponements due to too much wind, the individual competition started two hours late on Saturday with one instead of two rounds. At least the weather prospects on the Kulm are better for the team competition. “There should be less wind. We will attack fully,” said Pius Paschke, who complements the quartet.
