Ski jumper Katharina Althaus: first win of the season – sport

Ski jumper Katharina Althaus flew away again on her favorite facility in Lillehammer. The two-time Olympic silver medalist from Oberstdorf celebrated her tenth World Cup victory and her fifth at Lygardsbakken in Norway on Saturday in the 1994 Olympic venue. In the first competition on snow after the mat start in Wisla, Poland at the beginning of November, Althaus confidently prevailed on the normal hill with jumps of 99.0 and 96.5 m (260.1 points) ahead of World Cup leader Eva Pinkelnig (250.2). Third place went to World Cup title defender Marita Kramer (242.3/both Austria). It was also the first win of the season for the German ski jumpers.

The other DSV athletes also impressed in Norway. Selina Freitag (Aue), sister of ex-world champion Richard Freitag, achieved her best World Cup result (13th place so far) in sixth place. Anna Rupprecht (Degenfeld) was tenth, Agnes Reisch (Isny) was 15th. Althaus has now won three times on the normal hill at Lillehammer, and in 2021 she celebrated her last victory there. She won twice on the large hill, which is used for jumping on Sunday. In Wisla, after a botched first competition (21st place), Althaus had already shown strong early form in the second competition with second place.
