They left Rennes around 5 p.m. in their fire-fighting outfits. This Wednesday, ten Ille-et-Vilaine firefighters left the department to join the Var, where they were called in to fight against the major fire which had devastated more than 5,000 hectares on Wednesday morning. They were joined by ten firefighters from Morbihan, others from Loire-Atlantique and Manche to compose a column of sixty men and women.
They took the southern route on Wednesday to lend a hand to their counterparts in the Var, engaged in a perilous fight against the flames, in unfavorable weather conditions. They are expected in Draguignan on Thursday morning.

The fire, which started near a motorway rest area in the hinterland of Saint-Tropez, covered nearly 7,000 hectares, killing two and injuring 24, according to prefect Evence Richard.
On the spot, the Breton and Norman firefighters will come to reinforce the teams of fight against the forest fires or to furnish the staff of the local barracks, amputated of their staff left to fight the flames. They left without material means.
