The number of new infections is increasing and the rate of vaccination is decreasing. According to the RKI, the nationwide seven-day incidence has risen for the sixth day in a row and is now 1293.6. Only 57,000 doses of vaccine were administered on Monday.
The nationwide seven-day incidence has risen for the sixth day in a row and is now at 1293.6 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. This emerges from the figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The day before, the value was still at 1259.2. A week ago, the nationwide incidence was 1213.0 (previous month: 1441.0).
According to the health authorities, 156,799 people nationwide were newly infected with the corona virus within one day. That’s 34,688 more cases than a week ago. However, experts assume a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data. One reason is the limited capacity of health authorities, for example, and contacts are often only tracked to a limited extent.
324 new deaths
According to the information, 324 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 235 deaths. The number of people who have died since the beginning of the pandemic from or with the participation of a proven infection with SARS-CoV-2 has risen to 124,450.
The number of corona-infected patients who came to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 6.06 according to the RKI on Monday (Friday with 6.35). Among them are many people with a positive corona test who have another main illness.
Vaccination rate further decreased
As the number of infections increases, the pace of vaccination continues to decrease. According to the RKI, around 57,000 vaccine doses were administered on Monday. A week earlier it was around 73,000, two weeks ago 108,000 and three weeks ago 117,000. Around 37,000 of the around 57,000 vaccine doses on Monday were booster vaccinations.
The proportion of people with basic protection, who usually need two injections, is thus still at least 75.6 percent of the population (62.9 million people). At least 57.5 percent (47.8 million people) have now also received a booster vaccination. The RKI has long pointed out that the numbers shown are to be understood as minimum vaccination rates. The RKI assumes that the actual vaccination rate is up to five percentage points higher than stated.
