Six departments of the South-West classified in orange vigilance

Six departments in the south-west of France are classified Friday in orange vigilance for violent storms, announced Météo-France in its last bulletin. The departments of Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Gers, Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne are concerned.

“A hot and humid air mass has settled over the south-west of the country”, warns the forecaster. These storms can be violent, sometimes accompanied by intense rain, hail and strong gusts of wind. They will subside in the first part of the night.

Stormy showers in Normandy, Pays-de-la-Loire and Massif Central

After a calm and very sunny morning, the sky will gradually cloud over in the West, which will be affected by violent storms, while the North, East and the Mediterranean regions will benefit from summer weather, according to Météo-France based in Toulouse.

At the end of the afternoon, the stormy degradation will arrive from the south-west of the country, gradually reaching the interior. First in the south of Aquitaine and the Pyrenees, the stormy wave will quickly reach Occitania and the north of New Aquitaine.

From the Pays de Loire and Normandy to the Massif Central, from the end of the afternoon, stormy showers will also be triggered, they will be locally intense but more isolated.

The north and east of the country, as well as the Mediterranean regions will stay away from the degradation during the day and will benefit from summer weather. The Autan wind will blow moderately in Occitania.

Minimum temperatures will be between 10 to 15 degrees on the northern half, 14 to 19 degrees in the south, 20 to 22 at the edge of the Mediterranean. The maximum will be up significantly, with 25 to 30 degrees near the English Channel and Belgium, they will reach 30 to 35 degrees everywhere else.
