The commitment of Julian Nagelsmann as national coach was born out of necessity, but it could change the position. The DFB is now following what other nations have long been doing.
Occasionally it is commented with disapproval that Julian Nagelsmann is too young for the position of national coach. This is an excellent accusation because the person being criticized cannot defend himself against it. Nagelsmann could rightly point out that there is a difference between age and years of service, and that he does not do badly in the second category. Nevertheless, Nagelsmann will not succeed in being over 50 overnight and perhaps even being broadcast in black and white.
