English football mourns the loss of Bobby Charlton. According to his family, the 1966 world champion died at the age of 86. Charlton spent most of his illustrious career at Manchester United, becoming champions three times with the Red Devils and winning the European Cup in 1968.

The greatest success of his career was the World Cup triumph. In the final in London, England defeated the German national team 4-2 after extra time thanks to the legendary Wembley goal. Charlton was voted Europe’s Footballer of the Year that same year.
