Will the mayor come back this time? Michael Müller (CSU) is not exactly known as a big fan of the fasting preacher Brother Barnabas (aka Ludwig Schmid); in the end he stayed away from the strong beer festival with the strong words. Because four years ago he saw himself defamed by Barnabas as a mafioso. And the mayor didn’t find it amusing when the fasting preacher railed against an employee of the town hall. Schmid puts away such criticism. His motto is Ma-says-yes-nothing-ma-talks-yes-just, or in his own words: “I only put out a pair of boots, whoever puts them on…”
The fasting preacher will present the next boots to the audience on Friday, March 24th in the Geretsrieder Ratsstuben; the repetition follows the next evening. Both events begin at 7 p.m. As usual, she plays Gartenberger Bunker Brass Music. There is a competition for the public in the “Pfundsagln”. It involves sawing off a piece of a given weight from a log; whoever comes closest to the target weight wins. In addition, the appearance of an unnamed “star guest” is announced and the Lenten sermon as the main act. Local politics is traditionally more represented on Saturdays.

In Wolfratshausen there is a strong beer festival with a singspiel by the Loisachtaler Bauernbühne for the first time since Corona. Nothing is usually revealed beforehand. And this time too, stage boss Christian Foitzik (who gave Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner at the last pre-Corona game) only lets a little out. “The rehearsals have begun,” he says, noting that in the past few years “something has accumulated” of material for satire. What for example? Foitzik only gives a small insight: “The Marienbrunnen will definitely be an issue.” In other words, the back and forth about moving or not moving the old town fountain, including the final referendum against it, comes to the stage of the Loisachhalle.
