The live spectacle “The Passion” is entering its second round this year in Kassel. Singer Ben Blümel plays Jesus, actor Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht is Judas. A conversation about deceptively real tears and Jesus’ six-pack abs.
When was the last time you prayed?
Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht: I don’t do the classic prayer. Only when I want health or want something to happen professionally do I sometimes say: ‘God, let it happen!’
Ben Blümel: Last night with my two boys. They are three and five, and I try to summarize the best of each day as a little prayer so that they learn that what we have cannot be taken for granted.
Did you two know each other before?
Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht: We’ve known each other for about twenty years. Ben was on the set of the first part of “Wilden Jungs” when I was about twelve. Later we met again at “The Dome”.
Ben Blümel: I basically watched Jimi grow up.
