Who needs fortune tellers like Nostradamus, Mühlhiasl and Baba Wanga when the Simpsons exist? The yellow family has made correct prophecies several times. In the episode “Bart’s look into the future” from 2000, Donald Trump is US President who is completely ruining the country. The Simpsons were using iPhones and smartwatches 20 years before they were invented. They predicted the Dallas Cowboys’ victory in the Super Bowl final in 1993 and predicted the World Cup in early 2014 -Title of the German national soccer team.
In the 1996 episode “Homer on Tour” the hip-hop band plays Cypress Hill a concert with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO). The episode is about the Simpsons attending a music festival where, among other things Cypress Hill, Sonic Youththe Smashing Pumpkins and the LSO occur. “Can you play ‘Insane in the Brain’?” the hip-hop trio asks the orchestra musicians. Answer: “We usually play classical, but we can give it a try.” They then rap and fiddle together.
28 years later, the future is adapting to The Simpsons: The LSO has announced that it will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in July alongside veteran rappers Cypress Hill. Conductor Troy Miller arranged some of the band’s songs for the orchestra. Anyone who thinks the combination of pop music and a symphony orchestra is a horror idea (keyword: “The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra plays Hits of Phil Collins”) should stay cool. The Simpsons also predicted a zombie apocalypse, atomic bomb explosions and alien invasions would be worse.
