Simon Rattle in Munich: Love at first sight – culture

There is only one conductor who would definitely put Joseph Haydn’s “The Creation” on the program at the beginning of a new engagement, this harmoniously refracted jubilation through the biblical story of creation. This exceptional conductor is called Simon Rattle. He is 68 years old, once made the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra great, then led the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and has now, after a stopover with the London Symphony Orchestra, joined their colleagues at Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). Rattle is the only major conductor who can brilliantly enliven Haydn. So he played “The Creation” as the first act in the Hercules Hall in Munich.
