Bestselling author Simon Beckett reveals in the star-Interview what fascinates him about death, why he finds books more reliable than the internet and why without his wife some good plott twists wouldn’t exist.

Outside, a barren landscape passes by. It’s January, muted tones dominate. It could be the setting for a thriller. But maybe I’m just imagining it. After all, I’m about to interview Simon Beckett, 62, one of the most popular crime writers in this country. In his native England he is not nearly as well known as here. In Germany, almost every crime thriller fan has a book by him on the shelf. Rather more than one, because once you’ve started the series about forensic anthropologist David Hunter, it’s hard to stop.
