Silent commemoration at the Poinger memorial – Ebersberg

On January 27, 1945, the Red Army liberated the inmates of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp from their unimaginably cruel captivity. In 1996, therefore, January 27 was legally established as the official German day of remembrance for the victims of National Socialism, and in 2005 the United Nations declared it an international day of remembrance.

On this occasion, the Respect@Poing group invites you to quietly commemorate the victims. The participants will meet on Friday, January 27th at 6 p.m. at the Poinger death train memorial on the south side of the S-Bahn station. Here 78 candles are lit – as a sign that none of the victims should ever be forgotten. According to an announcement by the Poinger group, the aim is that future generations should also be able to learn from history and experience the calamities caused by violence and oppression.

Respect@Poing thus also takes part in the #LightsAgainstDarkness campaign, which is supported by the memorials that commemorate the atrocities of National Socialism.
