Siko exclusion zone: straight into the arms of the police – Munich

A 22-year-old driver apparently missed the fact that the concentration of police forces in downtown Munich was particularly high around the security conference shortly after midnight on Sunday night. He turned out of Weinstrasse towards the Promenadeplatz exclusion zone, which wasn’t very smart because he didn’t have a valid driver’s license, license plate number or vehicle documents.

When police officers tried to check on him, he turned the car around and drove away. The heavy police presence had an effect: the car was quickly found on Pfisterstrasse with the driver’s door open, and thanks to witness statements, the driver was arrested shortly afterwards on Ledererstrasse. The 22-year-old, who has no permanent address in Germany, admitted to driving the car, was unable to prove that the car belonged to him, and made himself even more suspicious, according to the police: the front license plate was simply stuck behind the windshield and was not registered to the car, which was officially deregistered, and there was another, different license plate in the trunk.

The police reported him for driving without a license, car theft and forging documents. He is scheduled to be brought before the investigating judge on Sunday to clarify the question of his arrest. Further investigations, such as identifying the suspected stolen car, are ongoing, according to police headquarters.
