Four years ago, Duffy shocked her fans: She said she had been brutally kidnapped. Then she withdrew again – until now.
Her song “Mercy” became a super hit in 2008 – and singer Aimee Ann Duffy (39) became a global star. “Warwick Avenue” also shot to the top of the charts, and the now 39-year-old received the coveted Grammy for her debut album “Rockferry.” She has been awarded numerous other prizes. There’s no question: with her memorable voice and huge talent, Duffy was well on her way to becoming one of the next soul superstars. But a little later things became quiet around her. The petite blonde wasn’t heard from for years. As it turns out, for an incredibly terrible reason.

In 2020, Duffy suddenly appeared on Instagram. What happened to her sounds like the story line of a Hollywood drama – but for Duffy it was a cruel reality. The musician wrote about a black and white picture: “Many of you were wondering what happened to me, where I disappeared to and why.” And then reported: “The truth is: I was raped, drugged and held for days.” She had been kidnapped and was now safe – but as she later said, it had taken her almost ten years, alone, to get herself back on her own. A psychologist helped her with this. “However, I doubt I will ever become the person people once knew.”

Duffy shares a video about happiness
Now, four years later, the musician is sending her fans another sign of life. And it gives hope. For a clip entitled “Happiness”, she writes in English: “A little something to motivate the heart. I hope you’re all doing well. Lots of love,” Duffy. “
The clip is about what happiness means – and what it doesn’t. that you can’t find it in your job or in other people, but only by listening to your heart and being gentle with yourself. Happiness comes from within, it says in the video. “It was always all about you,” the text concludes.
