In 2019, the famous cathedral in Paris was badly damaged in a fire. Now the French are celebrating an important milestone in reconstruction.

Eleven months before the planned reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, which was badly damaged in a fire, the roof structure has been completed. French President Emmanuel Macron shared pictures of the beams on the X platform (formerly Twitter) and wrote of France’s pride. Yesterday the last dowels for the roof structure were placed, like the one for that The Établissement Public responsible for reconstruction announced on Facebook.

The cathedral was badly damaged in a devastating fire in spring 2019. The inferno in the heart of the French capital caused international shock. At the time, President Macron promised reconstruction within five years. The church is scheduled to reopen on December 8, 2024.
