Three points in the Zoff duel! Hertha fought for a victory in the home game against Gladbach. 1: 0!
From Paul Gorgas
A game full of struggle and cramp! In the end there are 32 fouls in the statistics.
It’s even hotter on the sidelines!
► 50th minute: Long ball in half the score. In front of the Berliner Bank, Elvedi and Piatek go to the ball. The Gladbacher heads the ball, but hits the Pole on the head with his elbow. The Berliner Bank jumps up immediately. Referee Cortus whistles free kick. And suddenly Gladbach manager Eberl explodes!
The ex-professional yells – heard well on TV – in the direction of those responsible in Berlin: “This is not a foul game! He jumps up and heads. ”And then in the direction of Hertha sports director Friedrich:“ Shut up, Arne! ”
Then Eberl sits down, but doesn’t want to calm down. Because the Berliners also call back something, Eberl gets up again and shouts: “Hey, what’s wrong with you?”
Only when the game continues, does the Gladbacher sit down again.
Because of the many fouls, the game hardly gets going. Hertha has to wait until the 40th minute for the first shot on goal – and scores directly!
► Another throw-in from Plattenhardt jumps to the back of the ex-Berlin resident Luca Netz (whistled every time the ball hits, replaced at break) and lands on Marco Richter from there. He pops the ball in with a side puller. This goal judge is so important to Hertha!
It is Richter’s second goal in a row after his 2-1 goal in Frankfurt – he last did that in April 2019 for Augsburg. Judge to “Sky”: “Actually, I don’t hit the ball cleverly, but it looks cool how it goes into the goal.”

In half two, the Berliners take the lead over time. The basis for the success against Gladbach was the Berlin running strength: The Hertha players ran 121.4 kilometers, the season’s best!
And Hertha is playing to zero for the first time! Dardai: “We just stood very compact and defended well. And we have had patience and good switching moments. If we play them out even better, we win higher. “
