“Shut up assassin!” »… Did Booba go too far by insulting a doctor on X?

Booba revealed a new side of his personality on social networks. Alternately a rapper, then a whistleblower, here he is now a defender of conspiracy and anti-vax theories. Thursday, the “Duke of Boulogne”, aged 47, sparked controversy on . If you haven’t followed this new drama, we’ll summarize it for you.

What happened ?

Booba first relayed on Marc Doyer, a man whose wife died in 2022 of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, also called “mad cow disease”. Aged 72, she contracted it, her husband believes, after being vaccinated a second time against Covid-19.

A hypothesis which is however not scientifically proven. “This is something that does not seem possible to us,” explained in January 2022, to Release, Jean-Philippe Brandel, neurologist at Pitié-Salpêtrière and coordinator of the national support unit for the management of Creutzfeldt-Jakob diseases. But on January 17, the controversial Professor Raoult promised, on Twitter, that he would soon prove that RNA vaccines can cause “the unexpected occurrence of Creutzfeld-Jacob type encephalopathy”. And Marc Doyer believes that. Booba too.

“I’m taking the risk…I know he’s telling the truth and you know it too. Far too many people are like him. Open your eyes, it’s now or never,” writes the Duke, followed by 6.3 million Internet users on Elon Musk’s social network. The conspiracy theorists applaud.

But the rapper’s message worries at the same time many doctors present on X, who do not fail to make it known. Cancer specialist Jérôme Barrière reacts by directly addressing the Marseille druid, whom he accuses of “misinforming without proof”.

Booba reacts in turn. “Shut up assassin!” » It was enough for the artist’s fans to start, in turn, harassing this oncologist stationed in the south of France.

What does he risk?

Did Booba go too far by insulting this doctor on social networks? “Sending a single message does not necessarily constitute an offense, especially if it does not contain a death threat or anything like that. But Booba, who has a large following on social networks, cannot ignore that when he starts to insult someone, other people will follow him behind, with hostile intent,” underlines a judicial source at 20 minutes. She specifies that “this could constitute cyberharassment. Other Internet users would be considered co-perpetrators of this offense. Booba is obviously aware of the phenomenon that this will trigger. »

A new Booba affair?

As a reminder, cyberharassment is punishable by 2 years and 30,000 euros. The artist knows something about it. He is already implicated in another case of the same type. In 2022, Booba went on a crusade against Magalie Berdah and those he calls “influvoleurs”, personalities he accuses of scamming their community by using their notoriety to make them buy anything and everything. A fight which quickly transformed into massive cyberharassment of the “high priestess of influencers”, who was for a long time at the head of a specialized agency.

Real name Elie Yaffa, Booba was indicted in early October in this case, and placed under judicial supervision, for aggravated online moral harassment. Investigations concerning him continue.
