Should female employees be wary of teleworking?

Welcome to our podcast ” Wait a minute ! “, With our Thursday meeting” La Bulle “, which talks about us, about oneself, about what is going well, and sometimes not so well. After a year of health, social and economic crisis linked to Covid-19, millions of employees have experienced teleworking.

What general observation can we draw from this form of work? Far from being idyllic, teleworking tends to penalize the most vulnerable, and especially women, reveal many
studies, testimonials and
surveys.

The “tricky comfort” of teleworking for women

A Ipsos study for the Boston Consulting Group, entitled “Covid-19 crisis: a step backwards for gender parity at work? », Published in February 2021, notes that teleworking« penalizes women more »in business. They are, in particular, more exposed to domestic tasks, more often interrupted, and less likely to have an isolated space than men.

“Teleworking risks making a part of women’s work fall back into invisibility”, considers in Telerama sociologist Frédérique Letourneux, because of the porosity between professional and family life. Marie Donzel, in the episode of “Minute Papillon! ”Devoted to equality between men and women in business, evokes, for its part, a“ tricky comfort ”of teleworking for female employees.

What rules to flourish in teleworking?

Should female employees be wary of, or even reject “all teleworking”? What rules to put in place if we opt for this form of work? Can teleworking a day or two a week be the solution? We talk about it in this episode with Fabienne Broucaret, founder of My Happy Job, a medium dedicated to quality at work, and author of the book
Teleworking published by Vuibert.

What conclusions can be drawn about fathers and mothers who are active in teleworking? What rules should be put in place to reduce the mental load and domestic tasks? What advice can you give to human resources departments about this form of work? These are the questions of this interview with Fabienne Broucaret, to listen to above.
