Two cars caught fire in the parking lot of a hardware store on Riemer Strasse in Daglfing on Tuesday morning. The owners had to stand by and the fire brigade could no longer prevent the double total loss despite their quick intervention.
When a customer left the wholesale store at around 8.45 a.m. after shopping, he was shocked to find that his parked vehicle was ablaze and the car next to it had also caught fire. The man alerted the integrated control center via the emergency number 112. The emergency services already saw a large column of black smoke over Riemer Strasse on the way there.
The fire brigade was able to prevent the fire from spreading to other cars. After some time the fire was extinguished and the thick plumes of smoke cleared. According to the Munich professional fire brigade, both vehicles, a Ford and a Renault, were totaled. A towing company had to remove the cars. No information has yet been given about the cause of the fire.
Spectacular vehicle fires in the middle of flowing traffic occurred a month ago on the Munich ring road near Allach and a week ago on the Garmisch motorway. In both cases, one BMW burned out completely. People were not harmed.
