This ship is not for a sensitive stomach. When the Ane Maersk visits the port of Hamburg on Thursday, the crew will have already spent many days at sea. And anyone who has ever sailed over waves knows that the front part of the ship rocks the most. This is exactly where the bridge of the new freighter is located, unlike most ships. Not an easy task for the captain and crew, but the Ane Maersk – 350 meters long, 53.5 meters wide – is something the world’s second-largest shipping company is extremely proud of: it is the largest methanol-capable container ship these days. And it represents the future of an industry that needs to change.
