Watch the video: Mega lockdown in Shanghai – Districts are cordoned off earlier

STORY: Almost empty streets, hardly any traffic – in the Chinese metropolis of Shanghai, the effects of the current corona lockdown cannot be overlooked. On Wednesday, authorities said districts west of the Huangpu River will have to go into lockdown two days earlier than originally announced. Although the districts east of the river have been in lockdown since Monday, authorities reported 5,656 asymptomatic new corona cases and 326 symptomatic cases. Many corona patients are already being accommodated in mobile hospitals. The extensive lockdown is also increasingly affecting the economy in the region. Logistics and production chains in particular are affected by the restrictions. Many German companies are also warning of production bottlenecks.
