“Anger transformed into passion”: Shakira takes on her ex-partner Gerard Piqué

After seven years there is a new album from Shakira. She explains the long break by saying that she “sacrificed a lot for love” – and gives her ex Gerard Piqué another one.
Shakira has “put her career on hold” to be with her former partner Being able to be with Gerard Piqué while pursuing his football career. The 47-year-old explained this in an interview. The Colombian pop star and the former Spanish professional footballer were together for 11 years before announcing their separation in June 2022. They have two children: sons Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9.
Shakira, who will now release her first album in seven years with “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, said to The Sunday Times newspaper about the time since the release of “El Dorado” in 2017: “For a long time I put my career on hold to be by Gerard’s side so that he could play football.”
Shakira: “Sacrificed a lot for love”
She further explained: “A lot has been sacrificed for love.” Shakira also told the Sunday Times that her upcoming album “stands for the transformation of pain into creativity, of frustration into productivity, of anger into passion, of vulnerability into resilience.” The singer added: “There were so many parts of my life that were crumbling before my eyes and I had to rebuild myself in a way, pick up the bones from the ground and put them all together. And the glue that held it all together was the Music.”

Shakira’s album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, translated roughly as “Women Don’t Cry Anymore”, is due to be released on March 22nd. The singer’s twelfth studio album contains many new songs and a remix, in addition to some already known songs, it was said in advance. These include the collaboration “BZRP Music Sessions #53” with DJ and producer Bizarrap, published in January 2023, which now has more than 690 million views on YouTube.
