Eintracht Frankfurt meets Helsinki

“The goal is to win and perform in a good manner. With all due respect to the very strong opponent, we know that we are the clear favorites, we want to confirm our positive trend and stay in the flow. We know what we have to do: approach the matter with the same willingness, intensity and enthusiasm as before,” said SGE head coach Dino Toppmöller at the press conference before the game.

“Helsinki likes to play football, has very good positional play, a lot of 3-4-3 and the sixes. I’m always happy to meet a team that wants to take part in the game. At the end of the day, it’s largely up to us how far Helsinki actually plays and how much they can combine. We want to put the opponent under pressure, put our stamp on the game and show that we are the clear favorites at home with the fans behind us,” the head coach continued.

Compared to the last Bundesliga game, there could be changes in the starting eleven, as Toppmöller indicated: “We have a very good squad with many players who are scratching their hooves to be on the pitch. We look to give one or the other the necessary playing time. Because at some point injuries and suspensions come, then it’s all about rhythm. In addition, there is the load control because we have some frequent players. Nevertheless, it’s about finding a good balance because the game against HJK is extremely important and we want to win.”

Eintracht Frankfurt with respect for the outsider from Finland

Philipp Max, who was not registered for the Conference League, will definitely not be there. The head coach has already decided on a replacement for the left-back. “Niels Nkounkou will start. He has trained well and will get his chance. We know that Philipp Max has stabilized. He showed exactly what we expect from the whole group: dealing with setbacks, overcoming resistance. He did a great job and is on the right track,” confirmed Toppmöller.

It will be a first for Jens Grahl. The 35-year-old will play his first European game and is really looking forward to his debut: “It will be a very emotional game for me. My wife and children will be at the stadium. I’m especially happy that my son can see me play. It’s a huge joy to be able to play a game like this at my age. This is the reward for the hard work over the past few years. I am thankful for.” (smr)
