Storm Betty wreaks havoc in Ireland
Storm “Betty” hit Ireland last night. Damage was mainly in the south of the country.
Thousands of people without electricity, flooding and fallen trees on streets: A storm called “Betty” has in Ireland caused damage on Saturday night, especially in the south of the country. A taxi driver was scared when a tree fell on his car in the capital Dublin, the radio station RTÉ reported on Saturday.
Flooding hit the city of Cork in the far south and County Kerry to the west. The British weather service Metoffice had also issued strong wind warnings for coastal areas in Wales, eastern Northern Ireland, and parts of south-west Scotland and north-west England.
