Summer temperatures in the middle of autumn. For several days, France has been experiencing an unprecedented heat episode for the month of October with temperature records falling by the bucketful. Worrying, this hot wave also has more surprising repercussions: many homes have been struggling to receive DTT in recent days.
According to a document established by the National Frequency Agency, nearly 19,000 municipalities are affected by these disturbances, particularly in the west and north of France. However, they only concern households which receive television via terrestrial means.
Wait for temperatures to return to normal
But why such a bug? This is the direct consequence of the climatic conditions we are currently experiencing. A mysterious natural phenomenon called “exceptional propagation” which has the effect of jamming channel reception in periods of unusual heat or during sudden changes in temperature. “In certain particular climatic conditions, the reception of television waves becomes possible well beyond the distances for which the frequencies were initially planned,” we learn on the site Receive TNT.
To find their favorite shows, the viewers concerned will therefore have to wait until the temperatures drop and return to normal, which should be the case by this weekend. In the meantime, it is “advisable not to search and memorize channels at the risk of disrupting your television,” warns Arcom, the audiovisual and digital watchdog, on its website.
