It is the most devastating earthquake in Morocco in more than a century. In the earthquake region, around ten million people were surprised in their homes by the magnitude 6.8 tremors at 11 p.m. on Friday evening. The American Geological Survey Centers (USGS) locates the center of the tremors around 72 kilometers northeast of Marrakech, at a depth of 18.5 kilometers.
