After a skiing accident with an injured holidaymaker in Garmisch, the police are investigating a local man. The 46-year-old woman skied down the Kandahar slope, famous for the annual Ski World Cup, on Thursday afternoon, as the Garmisch-Partenkirchen police station announced on Friday.

According to initial investigations, the local is said to have passed the Dutch tourist at speed so close that both skis got caught. The holidaymaker hit her upper body against the man’s helmet and broke several ribs. She was taken to the local hospital.

The officers initiated an investigation against the man for negligent bodily harm. The Kandahar piste, which is known by skiers far beyond Garmisch, is very steep in sections and is often icy.
