Metro: major disruptions expected

In the metro, traffic will bevery strongly disturbed“, indicates the RATP. Seven lines will be completely closed on Thursday: 2, 3bis, 5, 8, 10, 11 and 12.

Seven additional lines will only run during peak hours, from 7 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.: 3, 4, 6, 7, 7bis, 9 and 13. On these lines, traffic will be “very disturbed“Warns the group, which will specify its announcements on Wednesday.

Finally, the traffic will benormal” on lines 1 and 14, automated, but with a “saturation risk“.

RER: lines A and B affected

In the RER network, the Régie expects traffic “very strongly disturbed“. Traffic will be normal on lines C, D and E.

Then, passengers on line A will have to deal with only one in three trains on average: one in four trains will run at off-peak hours, and one in two at peak times. In addition, the last train will leave earlier, at 9 p.m., at Châtelet.

On line B, the situation will also be difficult: one in three trains will run at off-peak hours, and one in two at peak times. The last train will leave at the same time as line A.

Surface network: disturbances especially in the buses

Tram users will be able to enjoy almost normal traffic, except on line T2, where three out of four trains will run in the morning and one out of two in the afternoon. On the T5, one in two trains will run, from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Finally, on the bus network, the situation will be disrupted: “On average 2 out of 3 buses will circulate on the whole network with some very disturbed lines“says the company.

Travelers invited to favor telework

The RATP invites all travelers who have the possibility to favor teleworking or to postpone their trips on the network that day and apologizes to travelers for the planned transport conditions.“, specifies the company, in a press release. A passenger information plan will also be available on the same day.

On Thursday, the inter-union of drivers of the Régie hopes to succeed in organizing a day “Zero metro, zero RER”, in order to put pressure on the company. Objective: to obtain salary increases comparable to inflation. A few hours earlier, the company’s future CEO, John Castexwill have been heard by parliamentarians: this strike can therefore also be perceived as a warning addressed to the former prime minister.

The same day, the CGT organizes a big day of interprofessional strike, which will follow that, mixed, of October 27th. The central Montreuil also hopes to put pressure on employers as on the government, to snatch wage increases and an increase in the minimum wage. The day is therefore likely to be difficult to say the least in transport.
