Setback for Aleksandar Pavlovic – Bayern player has to withdraw

Aleksandar Pavlović was supposed to be one of six newcomers to the DFB. But the FC Bayern midfielder is out.

Bitter news for a potential debutant: Aleksandar Pavlović will miss the German international matches against France (on March 23rd) and the Netherlands (on March 26th).

According to the DFB, the 19-year-old will not be able to play the entire game due to tonsillitis. Nagelsmann does not want to re-nominate Pavlović’s Munich colleague Leon Goretzka, for example. That means there are still five newcomers in his squad.

These are Stuttgart’s Maximilian Mittelstädt, Waldemar Anton and Deniz Undav, as well as Maximilian Beier from TSG Hoffenheim and Jan-Niklas Beste from 1. FC Heidenheim.

Pavlović, who could also have played for Serbia, decided to join the DFB team last week and was then nominated by the national coach. The 19-year-old is considered a great talent in the defensive midfield and made his breakthrough at FC Bayern under Thomas Tuchel. In the current season he has played 15 games for the record champions’ professionals.
