Trust

What is happening: In 1973 the ‘Ndrangetha kidnapped the billionaire’s grandson John Paul Getty III in the hustle and bustle of the hippie rebel party in the city of Rome. His grandfather, John Paul Getty, is the richest man in the world. He still doesn’t want to pay the ransom. The story is true and has been told many times. However, what Oscar-winning series creators Simon Beaufoy (script), Danny Boyle (director), Donald Sutherland (as John Paul Getty the Elder) and Hilary Swank (as the abductee’s mother) – not forgetting Harris Dickinson in the lead role – reiterate Getting out the pace and excitement is great series cinema.

Secret Star: Brendon Fraser as the oil tycoon’s security chief in cowboy hat and boots, who tries to intimidate crooks and gangsters in summery Rome with suitcases of money, army helicopters and pitch-and-sulphur quotes from the Old Testament.

Not suitable for: fans of Donna Leon series, crime scene and anyone who enjoys watching paint dry. Andrian Kreye

What is happening: A fine English lady (Lovely: Emily Blunt) comes to the Wild West to avenge her son somewhere on the prairie and teams up with a serene but secretly soulful native. America is hostile and mean in this fantastic series, but this misfit duo is more than a match for it. Big, visually outstanding, original and very satisfying.

Secret Star: The Austrian actress Valerie Pachner plays a young rancher who is even less willing than the main character Cornelia Locke. A hothead you immediately fall in love with.

Not suitable for: Western fundamentalists. You look for the good, brave cowboy in The English in vain. Here the downtrodden of history are the heroes. Kathleen Hildebrand
