FC Bayern bought their victory in the DFB Cup against Preußen Münster dearly: national player Serge Gnabry broke his arm and will be out for a long time.
His latest status is that Gnabry should undergo surgery this Wednesday, said Tuchel. “Then it will take a few weeks,” said the Bayern coach: “It’s extremely bitter, especially for him personally, but also for us. He’s simply an important player.”
Serge Gnabry had to be substituted early
Gnabry collided with Münster goalkeeper Johannes Schenk in the fourth minute of the game. He continued to play briefly but was then substituted. Later he sat on the bench in the team anorak.
In front of 12,794 spectators in the sold-out Preußenstadion, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting (9th minute), Konrad Laimer (40th), Frans Krätzig (45th + 5th) and Tel (86th) scored the goals for the German record champions, who were thus in the second round of the cup. The host was still satisfied: “We were able to celebrate a nice football festival here,” emphasized Prussia’s sports director, Peter Niemeyer.

Tuchel is hoping for three returns before the game against Leipzig
Tuchel is now hoping for the return of three important players for the upcoming showdown with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. “I hope that Thomas Müller, Minjae Kim and Dayot Upamecano will have enough until Saturday,” said Tuchel after the game in Münster and added: “But it will be a close race that we have to complete “We can get them fit. But it’s realistic, it’s doable.”
The return of the two central defenders Kim and Upamecano would be particularly important for Bayern. In Münster, midfielder Leon Goretzka and full-back Noussair Mazraoui had to help out in the center of defense. For central defender Matthijs de Ligt, playing at the weekend comes too early. The Dutchman will not be available again until next week at the earliest, said Tuchel.
