Sentenced to seven years in prison for overthrowing a policeman

A Strasbourg resident was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in prison for having deliberately run over a police officer. Last December, the sergeant tried to apprehend a man who was braving the curfew, in the Cronenbourg district in Strasbourg. The latter then took refuge in a car in a one-way street. The driver had not hesitated to start, mowing down the 34-year-old official,

“The cop, he threw himself under my car. When I put the forward gear, I said it’s good, it will come off, ”defended the defendant at the Strasbourg Criminal Court. Realizing he had just “done something crazy”, the crew had abandoned the stolen vehicle a month earlier, leaving a shotgun in the backseat.

In addition to the driver, three other men were sentenced to terms ranging from eight months to three years in prison.
