A 40-year-old man residing in Sarzeau (Morbihan) was sentenced Thursday to eight months in prison suspended for having taken large sums of money from the bank account of his father placed under guardianship and residing in Ehpad. For two and a half years, the forties had written 122 checks imitating the signature of the father. As if that weren’t enough, he had also emptied his PEL booklet. Total amount of damage: approximately 60,000 euros.
The victim was then no longer able to pay the rents of his retirement home, which attracted attention, says West France. In his defense, the son claimed that these were reimbursements authorized by his father.
He was sentenced for abuse of weakness, forgery and use of checks and false writing. Aware of the financial maneuvers and also benefiting from the payments, the partner and the son’s mother-in-law were also given a five-month suspended prison sentence.
