Senior in the focus of brazen scammers – Ebersberg

A pensioner from Anzing has been the focus of brazen scammers. According to the police, the 80-year-old received a call around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, during which the man on the other end of the line pretended to be her son and addressed the woman as “Mama”. The stranger stated that he had caused a fatal traffic accident abroad and was now in prison. In order to be released from prison, he urgently needs money. However, the woman who called realized very quickly that it was not her son and ended the call.

In this context, the police warn not to fall for such calls. With this new scam, the scammers would often describe their situation as very dramatic. Those affected are often put under pressure by repeated calls. As soon as the victim wants to pay, a messenger is announced to pick up the money. According to the officials, if the caller is suspicious, you should end the call immediately and contact the real police.
