Sendling: damage in the millions after a fire in an apartment building – Munich

According to initial estimates, the fire in an apartment building in Sendling caused property damage of 2.5 million. The fire on Saturday night destroyed several apartments in the house on Johannes-Timm-Strasse near Theresienwiese, three floors were initially uninhabitable, as a fire department spokesman said on Saturday. The roof was initially in danger of collapsing, the fire brigade was on site until the morning to extinguish the fire and secure the building.

According to the information, no one was injured. However, a pregnant woman collapsed after the evacuation, probably due to stress, it said. The fire broke out on a third floor balcony, after which the flames spread to two more floors and the roof.

42 people had to leave their homes, including residents of the neighboring house. This was evacuated because it was initially feared that the fire would spread to the burning roof. A resident of the facility, who is dependent on a wheelchair, had to be brought outside by the fire brigade.

Local residents noticed the fire and alerted the fire brigade.
